About this formulation

Shadbindu Taila is a classical Nasya (nasal instillation) oil from the Bhaishajya Ratnavali (Shiroroga Chikitsa). Its name means "six drops", the classical dose for each nostril. It is prepared in sesame oil and milk with Eranda, Tagara, Rasna, ginger, fennel, Jivanti, Yashtimadhu, Bhringraja and other herbs. In Ayurveda, Nasya is traditionally used to support the Shiras (head), Nasa (nose) and sense organs, and this oil is understood to balance Vata and Kapha. Use it warm, as directed. Do not use it during a cold with fever, and ask a qualified Ayurvedic physician before starting Nasya.
