About this formulation

Hingwashtak Churna is a classical eight-ingredient powder described in the Bhaishajya Ratnavali and Sharangdhara Samhita. It contains Hingu (asafoetida), Ajwain, black and white cumin, ginger, black pepper, long pepper and rock salt. In Ayurveda it is classed as Deepana (kindles Agni, the digestive fire), Pachana (supports digestion) and Vatanulomana (supports the downward movement of Vata). It is traditionally taken with the first bites of a meal to help ease gas and bloating and to support appetite. People with acidity or a sensitive stomach should use it sparingly.
